Many of you did. And many wrote to thank me. Today I am returning to the subject because the new version, the Smart Band 10, is even better. And it still costs around 35 francs. I'll start with a point close to my heart. I know many of you wear a Swiss watch on your left wrist. A Tissot, a Longines, a Certina—perhaps the watch your father gave you. No electronic bracelet will ever convince you to take it off. And you are right. You shouldn't take it off. The Xiaomi Smart Band is worn on the right wrist. For left-handed people, who wear their watch on the right, the band goes on the left. It is so light that after ten minutes you forget you are wearing it. It weighs 23 grams with the strap. Less than a five-franc coin. What does this little glowing strip on your wrist do? I'll tell you with examples from everyday life. You are in bed. Sleeping. In the morning, looking at your phone, you find a complete report of your night. How much you slept, how many times you woke up, how much time you spent in deep sleep and how much in light sleep. The sleep analysis program was developed with the World Sleep Society. It is not a toy. It is a serious tool, with personalized advice for sleeping better. Try it for 21 days and you will notice things you didn't know about yourself. You are walking along the lakeside at Lugano. The band counts your steps, measures the distance, and calculates the calories burned. Taking the stairs instead of the elevator? The band notices and assigns you a weekly activity score. It doesn't judge you. It informs you. And knowing how many steps you take a day changes the way you choose to move. You receive a WhatsApp message. The band vibrates lightly on your wrist. Look at the small screen: you see who wrote and the first few lines of the message. You decide whether to take your phone out of your pocket or ignore it. The same goes for calls: you see the caller's name without having to fumble through your bag or jacket. Convenient when you are in a meeting, at a restaurant, or in line at the checkout. Do you play sports? The band monitors your heart rate during your workout. Running, cycling, swimming, walking, yoga. More than 150 different activities. In the pool, it works up to 50 meters deep and counts laps accurately. It also measures blood oxygen levels and stress. It does not replace a doctor. But it gives you useful information to share with your physician at your next visit. Now I'll tell you why I prefer it to Google's Fitbit, which costs at least twice as much. The screen. The Smart Band 10 has a 1.72-inch AMOLED display with a brightness of 1,500 nits. This means it can be read perfectly even under the August sun. The colors are vivid, the blacks are deep, and the graphics are sharp. Fitbit has duller, lower-definition, less bright screens. The difference is visible to the naked eye, even without being an expert. The battery. The Smart Band 10 lasts up to 21 days on a single charge. Twenty-one days. The Fitbit Charge needs to be recharged every five or six days. Anyone who forgets to charge their devices knows how much this difference is worth. It recharges in an hour and lasts three weeks. Watch faces. There are over 200, all free and downloadable from the app. Sporty, elegant, minimalist, colorful. Five are even mini-games. If you are in the dentist's waiting room, you can play from your wrist. It's a detail that makes you smile, but it shows how much Xiaomi thinks about small daily pleasures. The app. It's called Mi Fitness. You can download it for free on iPhone and Android. This is where you find all the data collected by the band: steps, sleep, heart rate, workouts, stress. The interface is clear, without technical jargon, with easy-to-read graphs. Anyone who has tried the Fitbit app knows that the experience is less intuitive and that some functions require a paid subscription. With Xiaomi, everything is included. One last detail. The Smart Band 10 is water-resistant up to 5 atmospheres. You can wear it in the shower, in the pool, in the rain. You don't have to take it off. You live your day and it does its job silently. There is also a ceramic version for about 59 francs, for those who want a more refined touch. The straps can be changed in seconds and dozens of variants exist: sporty, leather, magnetic, colorful. Your Swiss watch tells people who you are. The Smart Band 10 tells you how you are doing. Two wrists, two different functions.
